Meet the Artist
Gayle lives and paints in Washington State, endlessly inspired by the temperate climate and rich colors of nature. Focusing on oil painting, their work includes landscape as well as interior home scenes and still lives. Interested in the way that light and shadow sculpt a space, their desire is to render the world they see in a sort or dream-like wonder, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in the world around them. They focus on the way that color reflects, affecting the things around it. How the lighting of varying times of day and across different seasons change our perception of a space. They paint under the mindset of blurring the lines between reality and dreams, encouraging viewers to see life in a similar light. Their recent work includes plein-air oil paintings on gessoed paper, warm interior scenes of their home, and landscapes of real locations sculpted into vibrant dreamscapes. Inspired by painters such as Alexandra Oliver, Kayla Martell, and Sergiu Ciochina, Gayle is experimenting with looser brush strokes. Interested in aiming towards how to best capture the essence of a space and turn it into a bordering fantasy world.
